Case study: Southern Weddings Daily Blog

Southern Weddings Magazine

Southern Weddings Magazine is the South’s hottest wedding magazine for the modern southern bride. The Daily SW BlogSite highlights the best in real Southern weddings and incredible event details from all over the USA.

We were contacted for custom Squarespace theme development by Lara Casey. Sure, no problem, Lara :) She created graphic design herself and we developed theme.

Basically she wanted a better looking blog with additional functionality and revised structure. The details are as follows:
1. We developed a custom blog theme for Squarespace publishing platform.
2. Created a flash animated banner at the top of the page.
2. Added revised menu items (lots of new items added).
3. Several new pages – “Real southern wedding”, “Inspiring details…”, “Photography” and sub-pages have been developed.
4. Thousand of new galleries.
5. Twitter bubbles talk-boxes for “About Us” page.

Also, we created detailed instructions for every page describing how to manage and edit them.

And now, after tons and tons of work, it’s ready!
You can visit Southern Weddings Daily Blog at swsmag.net for review.

Feedback from Lara:
“So far everyone is LOVING the site. Everything looks great. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!”

p.s. feel free to contact us if you need custom blog design and development :)

Case study: sexscenes.info

“Sex Scenes” is a comic and erotic story about a young woman filmmaker who sets out to make a sophisticated, edgy, sexy but arty film in today’s corporate Hollywood — it’s about her, and about how her project effects the people she encounters along the way. A comic (but sexy) picaresque adventure story, in other words.

We were commissioned for the graphical concept of this project by Ray Sawhill, and we worked from scratch providing the direction, logo design, web design and custom Squarespace theme.

Before designing website, we started with the branding process. The idea is to have a visually appealing typography only logo based on the type treatment popular in late 60 – 70. Swirly lines and bold characters along with strong color did the trick, and here is result:

sexscenes.info logo design

When logo has been finished we proceed to website design. Our main point of reference was ’60s and ’70s art-erotica movies, and we needed a website to remind visitors of those movies.

Splash page needed to look like a movie poster or book jacket. We created a vector image of a nude girl holding a movie camera in one hand. General idea was that back in the ’70s she’d have been the girl onscreen. Now “the girl” is also the movie maker.

Ok, done:

On all other pages, we added both the horizontal, top-of-the-page navigation bar and the secondary (vertical) column:

And here is Ray’s feedback:
Gorgeous, love it, thanks to all for great work.

Case study: morphthing.com

Recently we did a redesign for the MorphThing.com website for Charan Kondal. This is an online face morpher that combines two faces into one. It’s fun, free, and no download is required.

Charan said about his current old design:
“It’s not professional enough, or unique enough. It looks amateurish for what is actually a really cool and sophisticated web app. Parts of the interface are pretty messy. Nothing really stands out that is great about the current site design. The function of the site (morphing) is great, but the way it’s presented isn’t.”

We did our best to improve all the points mentioned by client and finally website has been redesigned. Also interface design for the morpher app was created.

New look is usable, clean and stylish and gives users a great experience. Redesigned interface has enough space to add new options easily. The new morpher design is much simpler than the old one.

Here is the result from our team:

And here is client’s feedback:
“This is amazing! Good work!” – Charan Kondal.

Charan and his team currently recreating the underlying system (databases, morphing code, etc), and launching the new site approximately in a month.

Looking forward to see new website online!
